Pool Cues - Marinating Tips

Maintaining your pool cue carefully and regularly can not only prolong its life; it can also improve your performances at the billiard table. Here you can find useful tips that will guide you on how to take care of your pool cue. You can learn here how to maintain the cue tip, how to clean it, and much more advice.

  • When you are playing pool, make sure that your hands are clean; a sticky pool cue shaft can only have a negative affect on your shooting, plus it will benefit your pool cue in the long run.

  • Clean the cue shaft on a regular basis; at least apply a dry cotton cloth to wipe it down after each game of pool. Additionally, apply a pool cue smoother and or a pool cue burnisher, which can be found in any pool and billiard supplies store. Start by wrapping the cue shaft with the smother while stroking it gently, without putting too much pressure on the shaft until the cue shaft is perfectly smooth. Then, use the burnisher to cover up the cue shaft. For a perfectly smooth cue shaft, repeat this process occasionally.

  • The ferrule and the cue tip should be cleaned regularly as well. Again, after every pool game, simply wipe down both the ferrule and the tip using a dry piece of cotton cloth; it will help remove chalk and other substances, which are accumulated on the pool cue during games.

  • Since your pool cue stick may be scratched or damaged in any other way even when it's out of play, an inappropriate storage of your cue may cause it irreversible harm, which needless to say would affect your shooting skill. Therefore, your cue should be kept inside a pool cue storage, advisably at an upright position; allowing your stick to be leaned against the wall of a long time is not recommended. In addition, avoid direct sunlight, humidity, too high or too low temperature in the room where your cue is stored.
